Tim White-Hugo de Pagano Gallery

Tim White's series of acrylic on board paintings, "Evidence", have been inspired by battlefield photographs from World War II. The artist has transformed the images into abstract visual experiences, and in addition to the concept of turning reality into nonrepresentational works, there is a thought process going on here that is original and intriguing. White's surfaces are layered with introspective intensity, and still we are allowed in--they are accessible, thought-provoking paintings. The colors are muted, and they make for a strong series as well as individual works. To balance the subtle retainment of the original inspiration with abstraction is no small feat. White continues to be a painter worth following.
The exhibition, comprising 20 small works, will be on display from October 28 through November 26.
